I am going to be completely honest with you. I have what’s known as adult onset procrastination disorder. Growing up I was never a down to the wire person. I chose my outfit the night before school, always completed assignments early, when mom left for work in the morning and warned the dishes had better be done before she got home….I did them right after she walked out the door. So of course when I joined this group of other photographers who post images of their day on the 10th of every month. I figured I’d have each months blog post all done and ready to post days, even weeks in advance! Well, the truth is, I think I like the pressure, that sense of urgency, the gamble of getting it in just under the wire. And so I chose to document our Easter Day for this months post. It’s a no brainer right? Everyone takes pictures of their family on Easter! Maybe, maybe not. I really have not done a good job of documenting our family holidays for the last few years. So I’m actually really grateful for my procrastinating tendencies because I captured real (and by real I mean not taken with my iphone) pictures of my family, celebrating the resurrection of our Lord.
My crew. All clean and shiny and ready for church!

Church. Ok, I’ll admit, this was awkward. I debated on whether or not to bring my camera into the church. It seems kind of odd to pop that bad boy out and start snapping during the middle of an Easter service, or any service for that matter. But I figured if I got into trouble, the pastor would probably just give me a swirly, a wet willy, or worse yet….a wedgie. You see that guy up in front? He’s my brother. And now that swirly, wet willy, wedgie, statement makes perfect sense, right?
This year we decided on an Easter dinner or supper or whatever you happen to call the meal that you have around 5 or 6 in the evening, instead of our normal lunchtime affair. So that left us with the afternoon to enjoy the glorious Montana day. Dawson, being the great big brother he is, blew endless bubbles while Avery tried to catch each and every one.
I’m actually not sure what Grace was doing here, but she was outside during the game of bubble chase and I was able to snap this shot of her.

The boy cousins. And no, no one called each other and asked if they were wearing their white button up shirt and jeans. But it sure worked out well for an impromptu photo session on the couch.

And this is a shot of some of the food. The breads and devilled eggs got their own area. Pretty traditional Easter fare. Ham, cheesy potato casserole, fruit, corn salad (sounds weird, but so good!) Here’s the recipe so you can try it.
2 cans of corn drained
1/2 c of mayo (not miracle whip)
1/2 onion diced (really small so the kids don’t know it’s in there)
1 c shredded cheddar cheese
Mix all of that together and refrigerate for a couple of hours. Before serving crush a bag of chili cheese fritos and mix them in. Seriously, it’s good. Try it.
After dinner/supper, little Miss E hanging with her dad.

And then the fun began. My mom arranged some evening entertainment for the kids. Yes, I said kids. And no the next picture is not of a kid. It is, however, my husband.

I’ll explain this game, my mom took plastic cups, cut off the rims, cut off the end of a balloon, tied a knot in the balloon, and put the balloon over the cup. Then you take a mini marshmellow, put it in to the tied end of the balloon, pull back, and launch it. Very fun. Very, very, fun.

The whole clan of cousins from the Engel side.

Mr. P, just hanging out. With some fine looking spectacles. This kid brings a smile to my face everytime I see him. Truly a litle spirit that lights up this world.
Another really fun game. The side bump isn’t part of the game, it was part of the victory dance.
But I will explain this game, too, since it’s so easy and everyone really enjoyed it. Take a paper plate (my mom used the foamish, plasticy kind) and glue it to a paint stir stick. This is the paddle. Blow up balloons. Drag a hose down the center of the yard to act as the divider. Start hitting the balloon back and forth. Kind of like balloon tennis/volleyball/badmitten.
That concludes the longest post ever written on this blog. Thanks for sticking with me and sharing in my 10 on 10 project. Take a minute and visit my friend, Carey Pace to see what her April edition of 10 on 10 is all about!
